Implications for Web3

What does this mean for everyone else?

Arguably the best thing about Midnight Society is how differently they are doing things from other developmental teams in this industry. Being that the majority of Midnight Society members are from the Web2 space, they are using blockchain to enhance their project rather than completely reinvent the wheel. Why force everyone to purchase expensive in-game assets for a game that isn't close to complete rather than let them be involved in the creation journey? Time and time again we see companies sell thousands and thousands of NFTs for a game that very well might not even make it past the ground stages, and the kicker is that they do it at an egregious price. Selling these in-game items for thousands of dollars effectively removes the majority of gamers from being involved in your project.

Midnight Society allows players to join in development in a way we have yet to see. Being able to feel and interact with an un-finished product gives players this visceral experience that makes you only want more. In all honesty, this project has serious potential to be the onboarding opportunity so many have been waiting for when it comes to blockchain and Web3 gaming. The fact that the team is well known and beloved by the gaming community gives DEADROP the chance to reach millions and millions of dedicated gamers. It seems as though we are finally seeing someone in the Web3 space build a game that puts gamers first. With a focus on gameplay rather than shilling of NFTs and the ability to directly participate in governance and future developments, Midnight Society and DEADROP are setting themselves up for success.
