Bot Pools

Another issue within Cryptobots is the functionality of the Alliance bot pools. As I mentioned earlier, in theory this is an amazing system to allow large amounts of users to play the game at a high level, without fronting their own capital. While this sounds like an incredible game feature, without proper functionality it is almost useless.

In its current state, no more than 90 bots can be placed into an Alliance bot pool. This starkly limits the number of active participants the game can have, as it takes 3 bots to form a team. Considering that Alliances can have an unbound number of members, this essentially caps how many active players a group may have to 30. Additionally, whether you are an Alliance leader or not, there is no way to limit what people can take from the pool. One user could create 10 teams of bots and thus take 1/3 of the total pool, further limiting people’s ability to engage with the game.

Other issues with the bot pools include the default rental period and one’s ability to change what bots are placed in the pool. The current rental period for an Alliance pool is set at 7 days and cannot be altered. While not the biggest issue per say, the fact that this is set in stone by the Cryptobots team feels limiting to say the least. Especially as Alliances work tirelessly to place the best bots in the hands of their best players, not being able to tailor fit your rental contracts can halt progression. Lastly, there is no way to change what bots have been placed in a pool. As bot manufacturing and upgrading is a critical part of game-play, not being able to replace weak bots with those that are stronger seems counterintuitive. People renting from these pools are not able to access the highest caliber of bots owned by the Alliance, further limiting how one can engage with the game.
