Battle For Lands

This play-test dubbed The Battle for Lands allowed the community to join in alliances with others and compete for valuable in-game NFT land. It was structured as a multi-week tournament in which players would battle one another and earn points on the leader-board. There was both an individual contest and alliance contest running simultaneously, giving players the option to work within a team or venture out on their own.

This first testnet was solely focused on bot battles and allowing the community to understand the intricate mechanics of the game. At the start of the competition, players were randomly assigned 3 bots each that varied in stat level and overall typing. Each player had 20 available “tries” for the day in which 10 of those could earn rewards. In essence, for players to achieve the maximum level of rewards each day they must win 10 of their 20 matches. Rewards included both BITS and OIL alongside points on the leader-board and power-ups.

Another way players could earn points for the competition was through breeding bots. By taking two existing bots and burning a set number of BITS and OIL, players were able to create an entirely new bot that would draw skills from both of their “parents”. Not only was this a great way to create stronger bots but gain valuable points towards this NFT land. Being in an alliance offered massive benefits to anyone seriously trying to compete in this first testnet. Having the ability to pool resources like BITS and OIL allowed for an alliance to produce the highest caliber bots and dominate in the competition. Not only this, but the land given out to alliances trumped that of the individual competition.

The NFT land at the heart of the testnet will offer unique functionality within the game. This land will grant players and alliances the ability to create their own in-game business in which other players can interact. Ranging from operations like mining BITS and OIL to providing repair services for weary travelers, this land will be the cornerstone of in-game ownership. People owning these assets will be rewarded for their services, creating a passive income opportunity. As the full Cryptobots game comes to launch at the end of the month, I am truly intrigued to see how this NFT will operate.
