Community Proposals
Introduction to Community Engagement:
In the spirit of decentralization and inclusive decision-making, the GG Collective introduces a robust platform for community proposals—leveraging the governance platform Commonwealth. This system empowers every community member to actively participate in shaping the future of the Collective.
TIPs (Token Improvement Proposals):
Creation and Submission: Any community member can create a TIP to suggest new ideas, improvements, or feedback on the Collective’s operations.
Community Support: For a TIP to move forward, it must garner a minimum of 10 upvotes from the community. This threshold ensures that only ideas with significant community backing reach the next stage.
Departmental Review: Once a TIP receives adequate support, it will be reviewed by the relevant Department head. This is where a TIP transitions from a community-sourced suggestion to a formal proposal, tailored by the Department’s understanding of operational feasibility and alignment with the Collective's vision.
Formalization of Proposals:
Crafting Proposals: After a TIP has been reviewed and refined by a Department head, it becomes a formal Governance Proposal, ready to be presented to the wider community for voting.
Token Use: Unlike Department-originated proposals, community proposals via Commonwealth do not require the use of Proposal Tokens, thus encouraging active community participation without the risk of 'burning' tokens on preliminary ideas.
Voting on Community Proposals:
Equal Voting Power: In line with the Collective’s democratic ethos, each KYC-verified community member gets one vote, ensuring equal representation irrespective of token ownership.
Approval Thresholds: Community proposals require a 61% majority to pass, similar to standard Governance Proposals, upholding the need for a clear consensus.
Quorum Requirements: A minimum of 30% community participation is required for the vote to be valid, ensuring that the decision is representative of the community's collective will.
Community Proposal Journey:
Community Member Submits TIP: Any member can initiate the process by submitting a TIP on Commonwealth.
Community Upvoting: The TIP needs at least 10 upvotes from other members to advance.
Departmental Scrutiny and Crafting: The relevant Department head evaluates the TIP and, if valid, crafts it into a formal proposal.
Community Voting: The entire community votes on the proposal with a 48-hour window for casting votes, reflecting the Collective's commitment to prompt and responsive governance.
