VOX Odyssey

A surprise announcement in a July 2022 AMA revealed that an idle game for Discord was also in the works. Jonathan Burk (IndiaVenom) and his wife Abigail (Discombobul8te) were given the reins to build VOX Odyssey, where VOX owners could send their VOX to perform tasks to gather resources usable in VOXverse while also gaining experience in 6 different stat categories. A closed beta began on the VOX 1-year anniversary (Aug 10), and the game went live for the general public in early September.

Simple yet engaging, VOX Odyssey starts in New York City and provides a host of places to visit and jobs to do. VOX can also travel to London, Seoul, or Beijing to find new things to do. The tasks give an opportunity to gather 1 of 6 different resources (cloth, food metal, oil, stone, or wood) and each task provides a different experience gain for stats (might, agility, endurance, smarts, swagger, wit). “Adventures” went live for Town Star VOX in February 2023 and gave new opportunities to gather and improve your characters, but with a potential risk of failing the adventure and coming back empty-handed. Each of the adventures contains challenges that key off of particular stats, so higher leveled VOX have a better chance of succeeding.

Initially, your VOX gain common resources, but as they achieve levels of 16 or greater in the appropriate stats they are able to also gather uncommon resources. Rare resources are unlocked at stat level 25. The resources gained from VOX Odyssey will be usable in VOXverse, but they will not be carried over on a 1 to 1 basis. Stat improvements for the VOX themselves are supposed to be maintained in the transition to VOXverse.
